Malik Sinegal

Hello there, I'm Malik Sinegal, born and raised in the vibrant city of Biloxi, Mississippi. I've been fascinated by the sky since I was a kid and now I'm living my dream as a Captain at Delta Air Lines, piloting the Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 fleet. My journey in the world of aviation started on the Embraer 145 at Trans States Airlines. From there, I took the controls of the Embraer 170/190 at Horizon Airlines. My path then led me to Atlas Air, where I flew the Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 747-8F. Finally, I flew the Boeing 717 at Delta before earning my stripes as a Captain. At the age of 23, I achieved a significant milestone, becoming the youngest African American pilot to be certified on the Boeing 777. Later on, I added the Airbus A320 to my certification list. I'm proud to say that I'm the youngest captain in Delta's history and also the youngest widebody captain in Delta Air Lines' history. But before all these achievements, I started off as an instructor at New Heights Aviation. That's where I really got my hands dirty and learned the ropes. When I was furloughed during the Covid-19 pandemic, I found a silver lining – I returned to instructing, this time at New Heights Aviation. It was a challenging period, but it gave me a renewed sense of purpose and a strong foundation. Each day brought something new to look forward to. I am so thankful for the journey and the opportunity to be a part of the Batesville aviation community.

Captain Sinegal is the subject of a new book chronicling his amazing journey from dreaming of becoming a pilot to his current life as a captain at Delta Air Lines.
